The Medical Assistant/Phlebotomy/EKG Technician Specialist Dual program is specifically designed to prepare students with the skills and medical knowledge required to comprehend and apply technical and clinical skills necessary to perform Medical Assistant, Phlebotomy and EKG procedures whether in a clinical or laboratory setting.
Medical assistants often take medical histories and record vital signs of patients. Medical assistants complete administrative and clinical tasks in the offices of physicians, hospitals, and other healthcare facilities. Their duties vary with the location, specialty, and size of the practice.
Phlebotomy Technicians, sometimes called Venipuncturists, play an important role in the healthcare system. The main duty of a Phlebotomist is to draw patient’s blood for testing (venipuncture). Professional Phlebotomists have the satisfaction of knowing that their work helps to diagnose and treat illness, and that they contribute to the health and well-being of their communities.
EKG Technicians perform electrocardiogram diagnostic services for patients. An electrocardiogram (EKG or ECG) is a test that checks for problems with the electrical activity of your heart.
