Medical Assistant  EKG  Phlebotomy

The Medical Assistant/Phlebotomy/EKG Technician Specialist Dual program is specifically designed to prepare students with the skills and medical knowledge required to comprehend and apply technical and clinical skills necessary to perform Medical Assistant, Phlebotomy and EKG procedures whether in a clinical or laboratory setting. Medical assistants often take medical histories and record vital signs of patients. Medical assistants complete administrative and clinical tasks in the offices of physicians, hospitals, and other healthcare facilities. Their duties vary with the location, specialty, and size of the practice.

Phlebotomy Technicians, sometimes called Venipuncturist, play an important role in the healthcare system. The main duty of a Phlebotomist is to draw patient’s blood for testing (venipuncture). Professional Phlebotomists have the satisfaction of knowing that their work helps to diagnose and treat illness, and that they contribute to the health and well-being of their communities.

EKG Technicians perform electrocardiogram diagnostic services for patients. An electrocardiogram (EKG or ECG) is a test that checks for problems with the electrical activity of your heart.

The Patient Care Technician program prepares graduates to work alongside doctors, nurses and other health care professionals providing direct patient care in a variety of health care environments.

This exciting profession allows the individual to help others with both personal care and activities of daily living, while also providing technical skills needed within multiple healthcare teams.

Patient Care Technicians care for patients needing all levels of care. The PCT plays a vital role in the health care delivery team since they often have more direct patient contact than any other team member.

Patient Care Technician Duties Include:

  • Assists patients with daily activities such as getting out of bed, bathing, dressing, standing, walking or exercising
  • Assists practitioners with medical procedures, phlebotomy and electrocardiography
  • Prepares medical instruments or equipment for use
  • Records vital statistics or other health information
  • Stocks medical or patient care supplies
  • Transports biological or other medical materials
  • Reports and records patients’ condition and treatment
  • Collects biological specimens from patients
  • Explains technical medical information to patients

Nurse Aide

Provide basic patient care under direction of nursing staff. Perform duties such as feed, bathe, dress, groom, or move patients, or change linens. May transfer or transport patients. Includes nursing care attendants, nursing aides, and nursing attendants. Excludes “Home Health Aides” (31-1011), “Orderlies” (31-1015), “Personal Care Aides” (39-9021), and “Psychiatric Aides” (31-1013).

Business Administration – Accounting/Auditing

The Business Administration-Accounting/Auditing Technician program prepares the student by introducing them to a wide variety of topics that will prepare them to manage and establish themselves in the office setting. Student will be training in business principles, office procedures, software applications, and communication skills. Emphasis is on accounting principles, accounting software, payroll and auditing concepts.

Graduates will be able to maintain accounting records by making copies, filing documents, maintaining accounting databases by entering data into the computer, and processing backups.

 

Becoming an Accounting Professional

Business Administration – Social Media Marketing

 

Business methods and processes are changing daily, and it is important for business professionals to keep up with new developments.  The most widely used business computer applications are those provided by the Microsoft company: products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Notepad, and Outlook, etc. Today’s business administrator must be familiar with these products, their uses, and their applications; therefore, these programs are the primary focus of the first half of this Business Administration program.

Given today’s highly competitive business environment, it is almost a requirement that businesses maintain a social media presence involving websites, Facebook, Google Adwords, and more.  Photography and video editing are helpful skills that are often required.  These topics are the focus of the second half of this program.  Further, to facilitate the hands-on training incorporated in this program, each student is provided with a Chromebook Laptop Computer which the student will retain at graduation.

The Business Administration-Hospitality/Events Coordinator program prepares the student by introducing them to a wide variety of topics that will prepare them to manage and establish themselves in the hotel office setting. These workers are entrusted with managing, directing, and staffing hotels and to other businesses associated to tourism. Students will be training in business principles, office procedures, software applications, and communication skills. Emphasis is on hotel operations, hospitality & tourism law, and MEEC (Meeting, Events, Expositions and Conventions) Industry.

Student will have the necessary skills to function in entry-level hospitality positions, such as front desk manager, event/meeting manager and guest relations manager. Student will be able to maintain and manage the hotel office setting through current technology, direct hotel operations and provide excellent customer service.
